The novel development of the French technology group NAWA is a combination of carbon nanotubes, conventional ultracapacitors and Li-ion batteries. Lamborghini already uses these components in its V-12 Aventador model. The CEO of Nawa, Ulrik Grape, announced that with this technology, his company is producing exactly what the automotive industry needs right now – a fast-charging energy storage for hybrid cars. However, one disadvantage of the Ultra-Fast Carbon batteries, their storage capacity is only 10-20 percent of a Li-ion battery.
Ultra-Fast Carbon technology is more expensive than conventional batteries in terms of energy density, but mostly uses carbon for its production. This allows easier recycling and has a low impact on the environment unlike other storage technologies that use heavy metals and rare earths.
Constructed as a capacitor, NAWA’s hybrid batteries can be charged and discharged within seconds and have a lifetime of over a million charge cycles. In addition to the planned application in the automotive industry, the batteries can also be used in general industry, aerospace, power tools and small vehicles. The batteries could also play a key role in storing electricity in the so-called smart grids.
The company NAWA Technologies was created by a spin-off from parts of a French state Energy Authority in 2013. NAWA aims at premium car manufacturers from Europe with its hybrid batteries and would like to start serial production in 2022. Lamborghini is already interested in the great potential of these supercapacitors and works with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a luxury sports car powered entirely by an electric motor. Lamborghini’s concept car “Terzo Millennio” (Third Millennium) launched by Lamborghini last week, uses supercapacitors and Lamborghini already uses low-voltage capacitors in its serial car V-12 Aventador.
Vehicles, including electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles, require CCC certification in China.

The Beijing Motor Show was held in China from April 25 to May 4, 2016. The show is known as one of the leading motor shows worldwide and takes place every other year.
The organizers were expecting about 80,000 attendees from
all over the world for the 2016 show. Among many “commonly known”
exhibits, the visitors could witness some surprises as well. The Beijing
Motor Show, also known as “Auto China,” is an excellent opportunity to
learn about all of the new features from all of the major manufacturers,
and to be introduced to new products from smaller manufactures as well.
The major Chinese automotive companies are represented alongside the
European and US manufacturers at the show as well. Most of them are
largely unknown to European customers.
Exhibitors from 14 countries revealed their new
models at the show. This year’s trend clearly points towards SUVs,
specifically towards smaller SUVs. Besides the traditional combustion
engine systems, new and innovative electric and hybrid drives systems were presented at the Beijing Motor Show.
Aside from the standard new models produced by the major car brands,
attendees were also treated to some surprises. One great example being
the electro-hydraulic valve system which could prove to be a technological revolution. It was developed by the Swedish sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg.
The system replaces the conventional camshaft, timing belt and throttle
valve in an internal combustion engine. In cooperation with the young
Chinese automotive manufacturer Quoros, Koenigsegg plans to introduce
this system to the market in the coming years.
In general, China continues to be an attractive market for the
automotive industry. An increase in sales within the range from 6% to
10% is expected for the world’s largest market in 2016. For SUVs, luxury, and long version vehicles experts predicts an increase of 15%.
Despite of the recent predictions of a slowed economy, German manufacturers are expecting rising sales of both standard automotive to premium automotive markets. Audi sees great potential in the Chinese market where premium vehicles only make up about 9%, while premium cars make up about 20% in Germany.
Like European manufacturers, Chinese automotive manufacturers are obligated to get the relevant components CCC certified if they are to be sold in China.

All manufacturers that have CCC certificates are obligated to update their existing certificates to the new CNCA implementation rules to remain in compliance.
Companies whose certificates have been issues according to the old implementation rules are required to hand in a CoP (Conformity of Production) plan with the respective authority, by December 31, 2016. This is required regardless by which authority the certificate has been issued.
While certificates that have been issued by the CCAP will be updated
during the annual follow-up audit 2016, companies that hold certificates
issued by the CQC have to submit the correct CoP plan before the end of
2016 directly to the CQC.
In order to be able to facilitate a timely submission and acceptance of the CoP plan, the CQC will issue a “CQC Modification Approval” to the applicant.
When preparing the CoP plan it is crucial that it is completed in the
approved format. CoP plans that are not submitted in the approved
format, or that are incomplete will be rejected. Only after acceptance
the Modification Approval will be issued. After obtaining the CQC
Modification Approval the manufacturer is allowed to update the CCC certificates along with the annual follow-up audit.
If the manufacturer is unable to submit a CoP plan before December
31st, 2016, they will not be able to obtain the CQC Modification
approval. Certificates that are not updated by January 1, 2017 will be
out of compliance and subject to suspension, then cancellation.
China Certification Corporation supports their clients
during the entire process. We will assist them in preparing a CoP plan
that will be accepted, then submitting it to the CQC. Once the CQC has
audited and accepted the plan, we ensure that our customer will receive
the Modification Approval which is necessary so that the upcoming audit
can be conducted according to the new implementation rules.
If you have more questions regarding to the Modification Approval, please do not hesitate to send us an e-mail or call us: UK: +44 2071931135, Rest of Europe: +49 692713769150, US: +1 773 654-2673.

The vehicle sales in China increased in June. In the first six months
of 2016 significantly more cars were sold compared to the same time
frame last year. The proportion of SUV’s (Sports
Utility Vehicles) sold also had a notable increase compared to the same
period last year. Year over year the Chinese automotive market has
increased with expectations of continued growth for the foreseeable
For all vehicles that have an engine with a maximum cylinder capacity
of 1.6 liters the VAT was reduced as of October 2015. This tax relief
was China’s response to the slowed sales with these vehicles over the
summer of 2015. In China as well as in Europe this vehicle type is
currently highly demanded by buyers. The trend towards large vehicles is
distinctly noticeable in China. Since the tax was reduced especially
vehicles with small engines have a benefit. For this reason, the demand for small engines in this vehicle class has risen significantly.
The huge potential of the Chinese automobile market, not only strengthen the OEMs but also the automotive supplier network as well. Many different types of automotive parts produced by suppliers are required to have CCC certification. It is important to check if CCC is needed to avoid problems in China.

On August 31, 2016 In-Compliance Magazine published an article about the CCC-certification of automobiles and automotive parts on its website. The article was written by Mr. Julian Busch, CEO of the China Certification Corporation .
According to the article there has been continued growth and interest
in Chinese market throughout 2015. For 2015, it was estimated that the
automotive market would grow by approximately 3%. According to CAAM
(China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), the actual growth for
2015 was 4.7% with additional growth specifically in the upper-end
luxury car market.
The growth of the Chinese market is phenomenal. The US market is the
second largest market for automobiles. In 2015 the US sold 17.2 million
cars. That same year China sold 24.6 million cars according to Forbes
Magazine (January 12, 2016).
Since Chinese branded cars make up for only around 40% of all sold
vehicles in China, it remains to be one of the most attractive markets
for European and US car manufacturers.
Along with the potential and chances, the author mainly
identifies three things to be one of the major challenges for Chinese
market penetration and sales strategy: CCC.
Comparable with the European CE certification, the CCC certification serves to ensure high quality standards for of imported and Chinese produced goods. CCC was implemented in 2002.
The article focusses on the certification of “whole cars” as well as
the individual parts that are required to be CCC certified. Specific
production parts and service parts need CCC certification before being
shipped individually or on vehicles. It encompasses the different types
of complete car homologation, as well as CCC for single automotive parts
over the entire lifespan.
You can find detailed information on the process and the associated costs of CCC-certification on our website.
The article provides an overview of CCC certification process, the GB
standards and their corresponding implementation rules. In order to
ensure a steady improvement of product safety, the GB standards and implementation rules
are being updated continuously to adapt to current trends in research
and development. These ever-changing quality standards present an
enormous challenge for the car manufacturer and
their suppliers. It is important that they keep up to date in order to
remain in compliance and to be able to continue to ship their vehicles
and parts into China.
